The Great Waddle of Worcester 2024 has officially come to a close. This unique art trail, organised by St. Richard’s Hospice, transformed Worcester into an open-air gallery for eight unforgettable weeks.
Britannia Dynamic Logistics (BDL) was proud to be chosen as the official logistics partner, responsible for transporting the penguin sculptures that captured the city’s heart. Their efforts contributed to an event that successfully raised an outstanding £330,000 for hospice care.
What Was the Great Waddle of Worcester?
The art trail featured hand-crafted penguin sculptures, each designed by talented artists from Worcestershire and beyond. Smaller penguins, created by local schools and community groups, added a special community touch.
Running from July 22 to September 15, 2024, the trail encouraged families, residents, and tourists to discover Worcester in a new and creative way. More importantly, the event brought people together in support of St. Richard’s Hospice, a charity dedicated to providing compassionate care for patients and their families across Worcestershire.
Britannia Dynamic Logistics’ Involvement
As the official logistics partner, Britannia Dynamic Logistics was entrusted with the transportation and careful placement of these unique sculptures across the city. This complex operation required expert handling and meticulous planning to ensure each sculpture was delivered in pristine condition.
Behind the Scenes
Transporting delicate, artist-designed sculptures isn’t a typical logistics job. Every step—from securing each penguin for transport to precisely mapping out their locations—demanded precision and coordination. The BDL team worked closely with event organisers to ensure the seamless delivery and setup of every piece, right on schedule.
The Penguins Take Worcester by Storm
Over the course of the trail, Worcester came alive with families on sculpture hunts and increased footfall to local businesses. The event lit up social media, with visitors sharing their experiences using the hashtag #WaddleofWorcester.
Perhaps the most touching part of the event was the pure joy it sparked—children eagerly spotting their favourite penguins, art lovers admiring the unique designs, and families creating lasting memories together.
The Farewell Event and Auction
As the trail drew to a close, a farewell event gave residents a chance to say goodbye to their favourite penguins before the sculptures were auctioned off.
Auction Success
The grand finale saw all 40 large penguin sculptures sold at auction, raising an incredible £330,000 for St. Richard’s Hospice. These funds will directly support the hospice’s work, providing free care to those facing life-limiting illnesses and supporting their families through bereavement.
Britannia Dynamic Logistics Reflects on the Event
Participating in the Great Waddle of Worcester was a true honour for Britannia Dynamic Logistics. The company takes immense pride in its contribution to such a meaningful and impactful event.
With a commitment to excellence and community, BDL continues to operate with one united goal: 100% customer satisfaction.
