The Cake & Coffee Concert and Heritage Open Day at St John’s which took place on Saturday 14th September was a huge success.
The day began with a wonderful concert with Alastair Moseley and Steve Cowperthwaite playing Delightful Duets on piano and organ.
Over 270 people came to St. Johns Church during the day. 84 people climbed the tower to ring the bells and enjoy the far reaching views on a bright, clear September afternoon. Leigh and Jules were busy in the Crafty Corner, and a big thank you goes to the fabulous STEM Ambassadors and to Ian Ceney, Structural Engineer, for the demonstrations showing the effects of wind speeds on the spire. We were delighted to have Avoncroft Museum for joining us again and Steve with his wonderful collection of photos of the falcons.
Huge thanks to 27 volunteers who gave a total of 102 volunteer hours on Saturday to make the day run smoothly.
Many visitors came in clutching the HODs booklet for Bromsgrove and Redditch – which was really great to see. It was great to see Phil and Sophia Jones Hammersley who were making a video about the day.
Donations from visitors totalled a fabulous £910 – thank you visitors!
A fabulous day to support the Spire Appeal at St John’s Church in Bromsgrove. For more information visit www.stjohnsfriends.co.uk
