Students have celebrated their artistic accomplishments with their family and friends, staff, and industry professionals at the Arts Degree Show 2024.
The show is an annual event where students showcase their work and is a celebration of their time at the University of Worcester’s School of Arts, bringing all their years of creative development together.
The opening night leads onto a week-long exhibition where members of the public are invited to come and see the new and original artwork from students across a host of disciplines, including animation, illustration, graphic design, fine art and more.
Emily Harris has been studying Graphic Design, Advertising and Marketing. She said: “My parents and grandad and boyfriend have come to see my work; I’ve been really looking forward to it.”
She continued: “It’s so nice that the University provide this opportunity for everyone at the School of Arts to display their work to their peers, industry professionals and the public.”
Emily is already working as a graphic designer for an agency in the city, a position she got through the connections she made at the University of Worcester.
She said “Without them I wouldn’t have the position. It has been amazing to be working in the industry while studying, I couldn’t have asked for anything more.”
Lois Tipping, who studied Graphic Design, was showing her work to her friends and family.
She said: “I showed the project I was working on, which was branding for a non-alcoholic beer, and also my major project which is an album cover.”
For her final year project, Lois investigated the evolution of album covers in the era of digital music.
She said: “I was very excited to show my friends and family the work, it was nice for them to see what I have been doing and it was a great day to get together and finish our studies.”
David Broster is the University’s Head of the School of Arts. He said: “For the students, this is the culmination of all the years spent developing ideas and techniques and the chance to showcase their finished work.”
The Art House on Castle Street is now open to visitors between 10am and 4pm everyday except Bank Holiday Monday until May 31 with student invigilators on hand to assist with any visitor’s needs
