It is the duty of every employer to ensure the health and safety of its workforce. The law states that employers have a legal responsibility to provide adequate training for those who perform manual handling tasks in their day-to-day role.

Who is this course for?
Candidates will learn the key principles of manual handling and how to apply these to their workplace. This course is perfect for any working environment, including shops and warehouses. Delegates will also practise a wide range of techniques, ensuring that they leave the course confident and proficient in both moving and handling.

Course Overview
This Manual Handling training course has been developed specifically with the needs of today’s workforce in mind and is designed to make delegates aware of their responsibilities, identify the risks involved and lean how to move objects safely.
Couse Content
By the end of this course delegates will have gained valuable knowledge in manual handling, and an increased awareness of the risks involved, allowing them to build their confidence when dealing with manual handling tasks. This includes:

• Common manual handling injuries
• Manual handling laws
• Responsibilities of employers and employees
• Risk assessments
• Safe movement principles associated with Manual Handling, including the body’s:
o Musculoskeletal system
o Centre of gravity
o Lever system
• Manual handling equipment:
o Types of manual handling aids and equipment
o Maintenance and requirements for testing
• Manual handling practical sessions:
o Solo lifting, carrying and lowering an object
o Team manual handling
o Using equipment
