The Courtyard host free online sessions for Children’s Mental Health Week

The Courtyard is delighted to be hosting a range of free online sessions in support of Children’s Mental Health Week this February.

Place2Be launched the first ever Children’s Mental Health Week in 2015 to shine a spotlight on the importance of children and young people’s mental health. Now in its eighth year, the week has been given the theme of Growing Together for 2022.

With that in mind, from Monday 7 – Friday 11 February, families and schools can visit The Courtyard’s Facebook page at 10am where a range of practitioners will be delivering 45-minute workshops via Facebook Live covering a variety of different disciplines, all providing children aged 7-11 an opportunity to express themselves.

Launching The Courtyard’s Children’s Mental Health Week workshops is a Dance session with experienced practitioner Lisa Fraser on Monday 7 February. This Dance workshop is the perfect way to start the week off by getting the happy hormones pumping.

Tuesday’s session will focus on Singing and is guaranteed to lift the spirits of those taking part. Proven to reduce stress, stimulate the immune system and improve mood, singing is the perfect way to get endorphins flowing and this session promises to do just that.

Next up is a Team Games workshop, led by The Courtyard’s own Education Officer Becky Cook. Connecting with other people can be great for mental health and this fun session will encourage children to work together to solve puzzles and develop teamwork.

In Charlie’s Poetry workshop on Thursday participants will get to explore who matters to them, find different ways of expressing appreciation through words, and gifting your poem to a friend.

Finally, to close the Children’s Mental Health Week sessions, Becks White will lead a calming Meditation session, perfect for taking a moment out to reflect and relax.

All sessions can be accessed for free via The Courtyard’s Facebook page. The workshops will begin each morning at 10am and will last for approximately 45 minutes.
