Introducing Alcocks Nicholls Stewart!

Introducing new Chamber Members, Alcocks Nicholls Stewart.

A bit about us:

Mark and I (Mark Nicholls and Kirsty Stewart) took over the business in March 2020, the organisation was originally established in 1970 and is now known as Alcocks Nicholls Stewart (formerly Alcocks Ltd).

As you can imagine it wasn’t the best time to take on a new business as only 2 weeks after we took over, we closed the doors like many other small businesses not knowing what would happen with the pandemic.  Thankfully we made it through and found we became busier than ever with the housing market going into overdrive, lots of people were suddenly able to work from home and moved out of the cities and into our beautiful Herefordshire countryside.

We then made the decision to move our offices from Bridge Street to Wormbridge Court just over a year ago, which meant we could avoid the “Hereford traffic” and have more space to increase our team.  We currently have 4 full time and 1 part time members of the team.  Obviously, we would like to continue to grow our team and services.

We cover a wide range of surveying services with 2 full time Building Surveyors, Mark and Kate, who cover the residential and commercial markets, specialist Party Wall, Legal, Expert Witness services and Defects surveys together with Project Management and Contract Administration works, we have now also recently taken on an Architectural Technologist, Oliver who looks after all our Design work, Listed Building Consents and Planning Applications.

We received the silver award this year with the Employers Recognition Scheme (ERS) for our continuing support of the Armed Forces Covenant which we originally signed up to after employing Kate who is an RAF Reservist.

12 personnel from 614 (County of Glamorgan) Squadron of the Royal Auxilary Air Force (RAuxAF) based in Cardiff, are operating a Mobile Testing Unit in support of Operation Rescript; the military support to the UK’s response to the coronavirus pandemic.
The team are covering sites across the Midlands area of England.

Kate was deployed between April and August 2020 and was working on the front line with a team of other reservists, at one of the mobile testing units, assisting potential covid sufferers.   We are immensely proud and commend her bravery in stepping up to the challenge.  She was also in the middle of completing her Building Surveyor Degree which she has now achieved and is currently working towards her chartership to become a Chartered Building Surveyor.
