Further Education students from Pershore College and Evesham New College have had their achievements celebrated in a special annual award ceremony.
More than 100 guests including proud family members, guardians and staff joined together at Pershore College as students were recognised with awards for their hard work, determination, and progress throughout the academic year.
The ceremony is in its eighth year and was held at the college’s Agri-Tech Research Centre, with 45 awards presented by subject leaders across 13 departments.
Students from both colleges were recognised in each subject area for Commitment to Learning, Outstanding Achievement and Student of the Year.
Learners from an array of courses at Pershore College were honoured including those enrolled on animal welfare, health, and social care, supported learning, horticulture, sport, English and maths courses.
Evesham New College’s awards celebrated students studying English and maths, motor vehicles, construction, engineering, hair, beauty and barbery, creative arts and media.
Both colleges are part of college group WCG and Angela Joyce, CEO of WCG, addressed guests at the ceremony.
Angela was joined by Mark Eden, Director of Workplace Learning and Deputy Director of Pershore College, and Mark Bonham, Director of Evesham New College, who spoke at the event and highlighted the eventful array of good news and developments from the past year at the colleges.
The event also saw the announcement of the Student of the Year awards for each college.
Hope Andrews, from Burcot near Bromsgrove, who is studying animal welfare won the prestigious prize at Pershore College.
Mark Eden said: “It has been a wonderful occasion celebrating the successes of our students and their achievements over this academic year. Our students have a diverse range of talents and we are proud of every single one of them.
“Hope is an excellent winner of our Student of the Year – working incredibly hard for both personal achievement and supporting her peers in the classroom.”
Game Design student Molly Clarke, from Stratford, won Student of the Year at Evesham New College.
Mark Bonham said: “It has been an eventful year for students at Evesham New College and I am delighted to celebrate all their successes with this special ceremony.
“Very well done to Molly for being named our Student of the Year, she is a very worthy winner and has been wonderful to see her growth and development throughout her studies.”
Highlighting the strength of WCG’s workplace learning, the college group’s first annual award for Industry Placement Student of the Year was also presented to Jack Sanders who was commended for his enthusiasm for learning alongside his technical work at Listers Audi, in Worcester.
