Dorset House Nursing Home in Droitwich dazzled residents, staff, family, and friends with a vibrant firework display, celebrating Bonfire Night with an unforgettable evening filled with community, warmth, and joy. Attended by people of all ages, the event fostered a spirit of togetherness, bringing everyone together under the night sky for a colourful spectacle enjoyed by all.
The evening was filled with delicious food and warming drinks expertly prepared by the Dorset House team. Chefs Marion and Karen served up classic fireworks-night fare, including mouth-watering burgers and hotdogs, and received compliments. At the drinks stall, Lifestyle Coordinator Lisa kept spirits high, serving hot chocolate complete with marshmallows and cream, keeping everyone toasty and content.
The event was made even more memorable by the presence of Tom Hutton, Chief Financial Officer, and Sharen Guise, Chief Operating Officer, who attended and actively participated in the evening’s festivities. Tom Hutton took charge of lighting the fireworks display, a highlight of the evening. At the same time, Sharen ensured everyone was having fun, embodying the warm, welcoming atmosphere that Dorset House is known for.
In addition to the fireworks, Dorset House celebrated National Hug a Bear Day with a fun game of “Guess the Teddy’s Name.” The winning name, “Storm,” brought smiles to everyone’s faces, especially as the home’s resident teddy bear joined in to watch the fireworks and offer hugs, adding a unique and playful touch to the celebrations.
Karen Johnson, Home Manager at Dorset House, shared her enthusiasm, saying, “It was a truly wonderful evening. The fireworks display was spectacular, and seeing our residents, staff, and families come together for this special occasion was heartwarming. Events like these remind us of the joy we can create and share within our community. We are so grateful to everyone who helped make this night memorable.”
Families cherished the opportunity to make precious memories. A family member of resident Albert shared, “It was an amazing night with the BBQ, the extra-creamy hot chocolate, and the fireworks. It was the perfect family evening, creating memories we’ll treasure. The staff went above and beyond.”
Dorset House Nursing Home remains committed to creating special moments for its residents and their families. Looking ahead, the team is currently planning a special Christmas lunch and looks forward to organising more events that enrich residents’ lives and bring people together in celebration.
