PGM launches ‘Who Gives a Rat’s Arse?’ campaign today, urging Herefordshire and Worcestershire residents to stop feeding rats
With rodents accounting for 48% of all pest activity recorded by PGM & Son Pest Control in Herefordshire during 2025, the company is calling on households, businesses and communities across both counties to take simple steps to reduce the food and shelter available to rats this winter.
The campaign has a blunt message: Caring costs nothing. Don’t feed rats.
Overflowing rubbish bins, fallen fruit, bird seed, pet food, poorly managed commercial waste and general clutter give rats a reliable place to feed and nest. Most of these can be fixed with small changes that cost nothing.
Phil Martin, director of PGM, said: “Rodents made up 48% of the pest activity we recorded in Herefordshire last year, and that is a figure we would like to see fall. We cannot remove rats from the wider environment, but we can take away much of what keeps them close to our homes and businesses. The name is cheeky, but the message is serious.”
The campaign asks people to take five actions: Shut it. Pick it up. Store it. Clear it. Report it.
PGM will publish weekly advice for households and businesses on its social media channels until February 2027.
