Thursfields has Advised MTM Engineering on its Acquisition of TA Ronan, a Leading Provider of Cable Installation and Termination Services in the UK.

MTM was founded in 1997 and, in its 27-year history, has expanded rapidly, both organically and through acquisition. In 2022, Waterland Private Equity completed the acquisition of a majority stake in the MTM group.

TA Ronan was established in 1949 and is headquartered in London, with a nationwide presence. TA Ronan delivers high, medium and low voltage cable installation and termination solutions to clients in a diverse range of markets, including data centres, aviation, renewables and healthcare.

The acquisition is the fourth for MTM, and gives a major boost to the group’s UK operations.

The Thursfields team was led by Gareth Burge (Director, Head of Corporate) and Joe Rollins (Associate, Corporate). They were supported by Michael Kokkinoftas (Solicitor, Corporate), Hannah Clark (Associate Director, Commercial/IP/IT), Lisa Moore (Associate Director, Employment), Rob Pettigrew (Director, Commercial Property) and Ben Lyons (Senior Associate, Commercial Property).

Brendan Mee, Chief Executive Officer of MTM Engineering Group, said: “TA Ronan is a remarkable business, supported by a team of excellent people, celebrating its 75th year in business; its heritage is renowned within the UK market. The cultures and values of both TA Ronan and MTM are very much aligned, providing us with an excellent foundation for growth.”

The transaction is the latest acquisition on which Thursfields has advised Waterland and its platform investments, having previously advised WTech Fire on its acquisition of JEM Fire Pumps.
