Do you know your website backup works?
Plenty of WordPress sites have backups running in the background. Far fewer owners have ever tried restoring one.
That gap catches people out, a backup that’s never been tested is a guess, not a safety net. You find out it’s corrupted, incomplete, or hasn’t run in months at the exact moment you need it most.
Testing takes a few minutes, restore a single page somewhere private and check it opens properly. Do that once and you’ll know the backup is doing its job, rather than hoping it is.
It’s worth checking too where those backups live. Storage on the same server as your site isn’t a safety net; if that server goes down, the backup goes with it. Off-site storage, whether that’s Google Drive, Dropbox, or a dedicated backup service, closes that gap.
None of this needs a developer standing by. It needs fifteen minutes, put in the diary, done properly once so it can be trusted from then on.
