A world-renowned author and plant expert is appearing at The Hive this month, where he’ll discuss his book ‘You’re Overwatering It’.
Jonny Balchandani, better known to his more than a million followers on social media as the Bearded Plantaholic, will join former BBC journalist Justyn Surrall for a live interview and Q&A session on Wednesday 20 May, 6.30-8pm.
During the event, Jonny will share insights from his book, which is packed with practical advice for plant lovers of all levels, from dedicated gardeners who are devoted to their plants, to the more casual gardener who prefers less labour-intensive plants.
The event will go beyond practical plant advice and will follow Jonny’s journey from sharing his photos online to building a global following, writing books and travelling the world, while exploring the inspiration behind his work and offering insights into indoor horticulture.
There’ll also be the chance to purchase a copy of his book on the night, and anyone who already has a copy is invited to bring it along for signing afterwards, subject to time and availability.
Jonny said: “When I started sharing my journey on social media, I had no idea that I would one day be a published author giving a public interview in front of a live audience in my hometown; I still can’t believe it!”
“My online following is made up of people around the world, and I’m over the moon to be able to come and share my journey and experience with people in Worcester.”
Justyn Surrall, University of Worcester, will be interviewing Jonny. He said: “Jonny has been an inspiration to a great many people and has made the world of plant care accessible for so many people who previously thought it wasn’t for them, me included!”
He added: “I first met Jonny when I interviewed him on the radio a few years ago, and I’ve followed his journey closely ever since. To join him for this special evening of insights and expertise will be a night not to be missed.”
