Operations Partner reveals why busy founders often aren’t moving forward – and what to do about it

Hannah Prosser of The Operations Project features in the latest episode of Dandelion Video Production’s What Do You Do? podcast, shining a light on one of the most overlooked roles in business growth.

As an Operations Partner, Hannah works with founders who feel constantly busy but find their business isn’t moving forward at the right pace. “Founders feel like they’re busy all the time, but the business isn’t doing what they want or need it to be doing,” she explains.

Hannah identifies three common frustrations: feeling unable to step back from day-to-day tasks, micromanaging a team that should be running independently, and hiring experts who aren’t delivering the expected return on investment. “Most of the time, it’s not down to the person they’ve brought in,” she says. “It’s the systems they’ve got in place for hiring that person.”

One of Hannah’s most striking observations concerns mission-led businesses. “Profit isn’t the opposite of purpose,” she asserts. “Profit is what funds your purpose.” She cautions that founders who undercharge to keep their services accessible risk undermining the very mission they’re trying to sustain.

For founders feeling overwhelmed, Hannah’s starting point is straightforward: get clear on your five-year vision, then reverse engineer what your business needs to look like right now.
