Local biodiversity focused business Niche – named finalist in prestigious RHS Chelsea Sustainable Garden Product of the Year Awards

A Herefordshire-based, nature-based solutions manufacturer has earned national recognition after being named a finalist in the RHS Chelsea Sustainable Garden Product of the Year Awards 2026.

Niche, a family-run business who design and manufacture innovative biodiversity enhancing products for the landscaping and public realm sectors, was shortlisted for its Bee Post, a unique habitat feature designed to support solitary bees, wasps and other invertebrates by replicating standing deadwood habitats commonly found in natural environments.

The Bee Post was created to address the growing loss of natural habitats in urban and developed landscapes. By providing shelter and nesting opportunities for solitary bees, wasps and many other invertebrate species, the product offers a practical way to integrate biodiversity into modern landscape design.

The RHS Chelsea Flower Show is regarded as the world’s most prestigious horticultural event, attracting industry leaders, designers, landscapers and gardening enthusiasts from across the globe. Being selected as a finalist places Niche among some of the most innovative product developers in the UK.

Alongside the Sustainable Garden Product of the Year Awards, the team also received the Retail Innovation Award for their unique stand design and a 5-star trade stand award. The recognition at Chelsea has provided a significant boost for the company, generating interest from landscape architects, local authorities, developers and contractors across the UK. In the weeks following the show, Niche has seen increased enquiries and opportunities as organisations seek solutions that contribute to biodiversity enhancement, sustainability and improving public spaces.

Dominic Knower, Founder and Director at Niche, said:

“To have a product developed here in Herefordshire recognised at RHS Chelsea is an incredibly proud achievement for our team. The Bee Post was created to demonstrate that landscape products can be both functional and beneficial for wildlife and we are delighted that has been acknowledged by some of the best in the industry. The support and interest we have received since Chelsea has been fantastic and we are excited about what this recognition means for the future growth of the business.”

The achievement highlights the growing contribution that innovative, nature focused businesses are making to national sustainability and biodiversity goals, whilst showcasing the ecology and development expertise that exists within Herefordshire.

As demand for nature-positive design continues to grow, Niche is inviting landscape professionals, developers and organisations with a biodiversity focus to discover how the Bee Post can help deliver meaningful biodiversity outcomes.
