A new poetry anthology featuring poetry enthusiasts from Worcestershire and beyond, has been released this week to raise vital funds for Worcestershire Acute Hospitals Charity.
The anthology, titled ‘Life’s Wonders’, has been published by Black Pear Press and was the brainchild of current Worcestershire Poet Laureate, Rhianna Levi. Rhianna came up with the idea to bring the poetry community together to share their unique and varied interpretations of life’s many wonders and be something which could in turn support her local hospitals’ charity.
Worcestershire Acute Hospitals Charity supports the patients, staff and services of Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust, to provide those added extras that can make the working day easier, the service more comfortable, or the experience less difficult.
Worcestershire Poet Laureate, Rhianna said: “The creation of the ‘Life’s Wonders’ project has been a worthwhile labour of love, the result being a collection of work that demonstrates the sensational wonder of human life on a global scale.”
On the anthology, Sophie Burt, Head of Fundraising and Community Development at the Charity said: “It’s been brilliant to see such a variety of poems on the theme of life’s wonders. We’re pleased to be gifting copies of the anthology to our hospitals’ libraries for staff and patients to enjoy. The anthology will support our charity as a donation will be made from each copy sold. The anthology will make a real difference to our patients, staff and services across Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust, thank you to all involved.”
Black Pear Press who have collaborated with Rhianna on the anthology and published the anthology both in print and online versions, said: “Poems from new and experienced poets from all over came in response to Rhianna Levi’s call for ‘Life’s Wonders’. In this anthology we find a rich variety of poems written to the same theme but with very different approaches; there’s something for everyone. And it supports a wonderful institution that helps us all too frequently. Black Pear Press is pleased to support this Worcestershire Poet Laureate project.”
