Could You Be the Next Chair of the Herefordshire Area Council?

We’re looking for an ambitious and passionate business leader to become the next Chair of the Herefordshire Area Council.

This is a fantastic opportunity to represent the voice of business across the county, working alongside senior leaders from a wide range of sectors to help shape the Chamber’s policy and influence local decision-making. Applications are welcome from all sectors.

The successful candidate will serve as Chair for four years, leading the quarterly Area Council meetings and working closely with the Chamber’s Executive team. Following this, they will have the opportunity to become Chamber President for a further two years, subject to remaining a member of the Area Council.

The Council convenes quarterly and is comprised of up to fifteen senior representatives from a diverse range of business sectors across the county. Members provide vital sector-specific insights and contribute to discussions on the key opportunities and challenges facing the local business community. These insights help shape the Chamber’s policy priorities and advocacy efforts at both a regional and national level.

Who Can Apply?

Applicants must:

  • Be a current Chamber Member.
  • Hold a senior leadership position within their organisation.
  • Represent a business based in Herefordshire or live within the county.
  • Share the Chamber’s values and commitment to supporting the local business community.

Key Responsibilities

As Chair, you will:

  • Lead the Herefordshire Area Council and chair meetings.
  • Represent the interests of the local business community.
  • Work with Chamber Executives and local stakeholders, including MPs, councillors and public sector partners.
  • Help identify key business issues and shape the Chamber’s policy and lobbying activity.
  • Encourage engagement with Chamber events and support membership growth.
  • Champion Herefordshire businesses and help influence positive change across the county.
