A simple call-out to fellow Chamber members has helped Herefordshire Headway solve a challenge that had been ongoing for more than two decades.
Herefordshire Headway supports people affected by acquired brain injury, along with their families and carers. However, finding their premises has not always been easy, with visitors and clients often struggling to locate the facilities.
Dr Stephen Heptinstall from Herefordshire Headway had been trying to secure directional signage in the surrounding area for many years. After around 26 years without a solution, the Herefordshire & Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce reached out to its network to see whether a local signage company could help.
Fellow Chamber member PB Signs Ltd responded to the call.
After speaking with Stephen and understanding what was needed, the PB Signs team produced a series of double-sided lamppost signs positioned on surrounding streets, helping to clearly direct visitors to Herefordshire Headway’s premises.
Within just one week of the initial introduction, the new signage had been produced and installed.
For Herefordshire Headway, the signs provide a practical solution to a longstanding problem, making the organisation easier to find for the people who rely on its services.
Alice Fox, Director at PB Signs Ltd, said:
“When we saw the Chamber’s call-out, it was something we knew we could help with. Directional and wayfinding signage is a big part of what we do, so it was great to be able to step in and get a solution in place so quickly.
“Knowing that Herefordshire Headway had been trying to resolve the issue for such a long time made it even more rewarding to finally see the signs installed. It’s also a great example of the value of the Chamber network. Sometimes it’s simply about connecting the right local businesses and organisations at the right time.”
Marie Ganderton, Head of Membership at Herefordshire & Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce, said:
“At the Chamber, we are passionate about supporting local charities and helping them access the connections, expertise and support they need. Whether that’s through our extensive business network, charity call-outs across our website and communications channels, or simply making the right introduction at the right time, we are always looking for ways to help organisations overcome challenges and achieve their goals.
This project is a perfect example of the power of Chamber membership in action. Seeing a long-standing issue that had remained unresolved for 26 years find a solution within just a week is incredible. One of the most satisfying parts of my role is bringing people together and seeing connections turn into real outcomes. It has been a pleasure to watch this project come together so quickly and make such a positive difference for Herefordshire Headway and the people they support.”
Dr Stephen Heptinstall, Herefordshire Headway, added:
“We really appreciate the effort that Marie from the Herefordshire & Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce and Alice at PB Signs Ltd went to in securing our signage. It has already made a big difference to our visibility within the community and helped new visitors locate us easily at last. Many thanks.”
The project is a great example of Chamber membership creating connections that go beyond traditional business opportunities, bringing local organisations together, sharing expertise and ultimately making a positive difference within the community.
Twenty-six years of waiting, one Chamber connection, and a solution delivered within a week.
