A 15-year-old Muay Thai boxer from Birmingham has received sponsorship from BCRS Business Loans which will support him to compete for Team England in Thailand.
Community lender BCRS Business Loans, based in Wolverhampton, has provided Louis Thompson with sponsorship for one year and a contribution towards his training kit.
Louis, who trains at K-Star Thai Boxing Academy in Perry Barr, took up the sport three years ago and has been boxing competitively for two years.
He has now been selected to compete for Team England in the Muay Thai Festival in Bangkok, Thailand in June.
Muay Thai boxing is a martial art and full-contact combat sport that utilises punches, elbows, knees, shins and stand-up grappling to deliver powerful strikes.
Originating in Thailand, Muay Thai is widely regarded as one of the most effective striking martial arts for self-defence and is a staple component in modern mixed martial arts.
BCRS Business Loans head of marketing and impact Kiran Morar put Louis forward for sponsorship and commented: “At BCRS Business Loans, we are passionate about investing in our community, and Louis is a truly inspiring young talent.
“Supporting him on his journey to represent Team England at the Muay Thai Festival in Bangkok is something we are incredibly proud of. We wish him all the success in the world.”
K-Star head coach Steve Logan said: “The sport is self-funded so sponsorship from businesses like BCRS is really important to us.
“Louis is a dedicated and motivated boxer and the fact that he has been selected to compete at the highest level, and we can help him to achieve that through our club is amazing.”
Louis Thompson added: “The sponsorship from BCRS Business Loans will help me to fund my training sessions to be able to compete in June.
“It is an honour to be representing Team England and I hope to go on and win a few more titles in the future, hopefully a World Boxing Council (WBC) title too.”
BCRS Business Loans provides funding to businesses that are struggling to access finance from traditional lenders.
Businesses can secure loans from between £10,000 and £250,000 from BCRS Business Loans to support growth and recovery plans.
