A proposal to round off a week of graduation at the University of Worcester

It was an extra special graduation day for one Worcestershire student, who got engaged just moments before her ceremony.

Erin Boddice was about to graduate from her Primary Initial Teacher Education degree at the University of Worcester before her partner of 3 years asked her to marry him.

“We were in the garden of the Cathedral, overlooking the river, having family photos on the steps just by the Cathedral door,” said Erin. “Then Jacob got down on one knee and asked the question! I couldn’t believe it; I was very happy!”

Erin is already working in a school and returned to work today (Friday), the day after her graduation.

Erin’s fiancé, Jacob Thomas, finished his studies at Worcester 2 years ago and now works in the City.

He said: “I had planned it so Erin’s dad could be on hand to take photos, I half planned the moment, but the other half was luck!”.

Erin said that after a small celebration that evening, she was looking forward to getting back to work.

She said: “I can’t wait to show the children the photos and the ring when I get back to the school in the morning!”
