1ST OF A DOZEN CHARITIES RECEIVES GENEROUS DONATION FROM HEREFORDSHIRE BUSINESS
Discover Parks in North Herefordshire has presented ‘Kellys Heroes’ with its first donation of 2024 as it celebrates its Silver year of success at Pearl Lake in Shobdon.
Park owners Glenn and Hannah Jones pledged to give away £25,000 marking 25 years at Pearl Lake Country Park at their Silver Anniversary celebrations that took place last November. Their generous offer included a £1,000 a month to a nominated charity chosen by holiday home owners on their ward winning park. Pam George and Steve Hancox nominated ‘Kelly’s Heroes’, after seeing the hard work their close friend and founder John Hewitt put into helping and supporting those who have been bereaved by suicide.
Pam said: “In December 2018 we received the devastating news that Kelly had taken her own life. John decided to channel his grief and despair into creating a legacy for her. He dedicated his time and money into starting what has now become an incredible charity helping countless people in person, and online. ‘Kelly’s Heroes’, as it is now known, has already saved many lives, and changed others.”
Glenn says: “John’s incredible charity bike ride rode to Pearl Lake a few years ago and it was a pleasure to host the team. It’s now wonderful that we can be part of their mission to raise awareness of mental health issues surrounding suicide with our first donation of the year.”
John Hewitt, of Kelly’s Heroes said: “The team are deeply grateful for the generous donation made.
