WALK THE BLINDFOLD MILE 2018

Home / News & Opportunities / Opportunities / Member Opportunities

Date: 29/01/2018

Imagine going about your world with sight loss. Take part in Sight Concern’s challenge to go out blindfolded for a mile to experience some of the challenges that blind and partially sighted people overcome each day.

Walk in pairs with colleagues, family or friends – one blindfolded, one sighted, along a designated route starting and ending at Malvern Cube and including the Library, the Priory, Malvern Theatres and Priory Park, swapping over along the way. There will be a number of challenges en route related to everyday tasks.

Friends, family, work  and schools are all invited to take part on Saturday 21st April 2018 (children will need to be supervised). There is a booking  fee which includes an event Tshirt.

The event aims to involve at least 100 people and will help to raise money for local charity Sight Concern, who ran a similar event in Worcester last year.  Many of those taking part described it as a very powerful, memorable and attention-grabbing experience!

The event will be hosted by Sight Concern President Lady Morrison, Chair of Trustees Jon Parsons and Chief Officer Jenny Gage.
The Mayor of Malvern, Cllr. Cynthia Palmer; Cllr. Chris O’Donnell, Chairman of Malvern Hills District Council have confirmed their participation and it is in the diary of MP Harriet Baldwin.

Sight Concern Worcestershire supports blind and partially sighted people to lead independent and fulfilling lives.  In Malvern, we run a LocalEyes Support Group which meets twice a month, offering information and advice, guest speakers and social activities. There’s also a Malvern Branch of the charity meeting on alternate weeks of the month.
For details, get in touch with Malvern Advice & Support Officer, Jenny Douglas on 07722 630 217 or (01905) 723 245.

Any questions on the event, please contact f.blake@sightconcern.co.uk or call Fiona on (01905) 332902.
