LOCAL FIRMS TAKE PART IN WEDNESDAY NETWALKS TO FOLLOW GIRAFFE TRAIL

On Thursday 19 July, Herefordshire & Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce, Worcester Business Improvement District (BID) and Sports Partnership Herefordshire and Worcestershire welcomed 40 delegates to the opening “Netwalking” event for Worcester Stands Tall.

The event was a joint initiative to involve the businesses in support of Worcester Stands Tall, and encourage health and wellbeing among the employees of those involved. Guests were led on a shorter three-mile route from The Hive before ending at The Old Rectifying House to enjoy a well deserved Pimms and some nibbles.

St Richard’s Hospice welcomed those to the evening, reminding guests of the reason behind the fantastic 10-week project, and how its Build 2020 campaign will benefit all involved in the charity and its work.

Starting with the Chamber’s giraffe, Bumble, the route allowed attendees to take photographs of the safari giants whilst hearing more about the artists behind the designs. Traci Moss, the designer behind Bumble, was just one of the artists there on the day to network with local firms and see Bumble in action.

Speaking after the event, Traci said:

“I was delighted to attend the Netwalking event and meet all of the lovely people involved.

“Having the opportunity to see the giraffes up close was wonderful – I enjoyed seeing all of the painty details. The giraffes have such varied designs and are all so gorgeous. It was very nice for me to see Bumble again!

“I thoroughly enjoyed the pleasant walk along the river, chatting with the businesses and artists whilst giraffe spotting. The event was a great way to get some exercise and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. An added bonus was that Frank and George, the two stripey knitted giraffes on a quest to raise funds for St Richard’s, accompanied me.

“It was well worth the eight-hour round trip to get there and I’m so glad I went. Thanks to all involved for making it such a super evening!”

Firms are now invited to join H&W Chamber, Worcester BID and Sports Partnership H&W on their weekly Wednesday walks that will take place every week until Wednesday 12 September, before the giraffes are auctioned off.

The weekly walks will take place during lunchtime and start at Snowdrop, St Andrews Spire at 12.15pm.  The specially designed routes will last for about 30 minutes, allowing guests to see other areas of the city and tick off more of the 57 giraffes dotted around the trail map. To register your attendance for one of the weekly walks, please visit www.worcesterbid.com/netwalking for more information.

Thank you for all your support, and on behalf of the Chamber, Worcester BID and Sports Partnership H&W, we look forward to seeing you on Wednesdays as we take on a new trail!
