Andrew Manning Cox is retiring as a partner in international law firm Gowling WLG, (formerly Wragge & Co) after 40 years of service, 33 years of which have been as a partner specialising in litigation and arbitration.

Andrew is a well-known figure in Herefordshire and Worcestershire, lives near Malvern on the border between the two counties and acts for a number of companies and organisations in the area.

He is Chair of Hereford Enterprise Zone, a non-executive director of the Marches LEP and a significant number of local businesses including Malvern Hills Science Park, and Central Technology Belt. He is an immediate past Governor of Abberley Hall School.

Andrew says "I joined Wragge & Co as it then was in 1978 when we had one office in Birmingham, with 12 partners.  My first job was preparing my Articles of Clerkship.  Now we are 1400 people with 18 offices in 3 continents.  I have enjoyed every day of my career and I am immensely proud of what the firm has achieved and its continued success as a major player in the legal services market.

"I have always had a close connection with the two counties and I have been proud to do my bit over many years to promote the region.  My close connection with the Herefordshire and Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce has been of great help in that process.

"My personal practice as a Mediator, Arbitrator and Notary Public means that my business connection with the two counties will continue.

"These are exciting times for the region with a new University and a thriving Enterprise Zone in Hereford,  exciting infrastructure and development projects in both counties and a great success story at Malvern Hills Science Park where 450 tech jobs have been created since inception and we are completing Phase 5 of its development.“

Andrew started his training in 1978 with Gowling WLG and became a Partner in 1985, seeing the business grow through merger with Lawrence Graham and recently Canadian firm Gowling.

During his career he has headed up the employment team, the construction/engineering team, and most recently as senior litigation partner.
