Kington Court Care Home Celebrates Clinical Lead’s 20 Years of Service

Rotherwood Healthcare is proud to announce that Rhodora Cunanan, Clinical Lead at award-winning Kington Court Nursing Home in Herefordshire, has recently celebrated 20 years of dedicated service. This remarkable milestone marks Rhodora’s enduring commitment to providing exceptional care, exemplifying the Rotherwood values of compassion, commitment, and caring.

With over 26 years of experience as a qualified general nurse, Rhodora’s career has been marked by her versatility and dedication to healthcare. She began her nursing journey in the Philippines, working on medical and surgical wards before moving into a theatre role, where her skills and leadership earned her a promotion to Theatre Nurse Supervisor in a tertiary hospital. In 2004, Rhodora made the life-changing decision to move to England and began working at Rotherwood’s Lynhales Hall Care Home in Lyonshall.

Rhodora qualified as a nurse in the UK through a six-month adaptation programme and continued developing her professional skills. She completed a Level 4 Leadership and Management qualification through the Chamber of Commerce and the Mentorship Programme at the University of Worcestershire. These achievements paved the way for Rhodora’s career progression within Rotherwood. In 2021, she was transferred to Kington Court Nursing Home, where she continues to make an exceptional impact as Clinical Lead.

Rhodora’s dedication to her profession and passion for nurturing the next generation of nurses was further recognised in 2023 when she was honoured with ‘The Good Nurse Award’ at the Hereford Times Health and Social Care Awards. She was also nominated as a finalist for the ‘Care Trainer Award’ at this year’s Health and Social Care Awards. These accolades are a testament to her outstanding contributions to the field and her commitment to delivering the highest standards of care. She continues to inspire and mentor student nurses, guiding their development and supporting overseas staff as they integrate into the team.

Reflecting on her 20-year journey with Rotherwood Healthcare, Rhodora shared:
“I am incredibly proud to be part of such a hardworking, compassionate, and exceptional team at Kington Court. Mentoring nursing students and supporting overseas staff gives me immense fulfilment, as I can pass on my knowledge and show them the true meaning of providing quality care. My passion has always been making a difference in the lives of older adults, and I feel very fortunate to be able to do that every day at Rotherwood.”

Libby Knight, Home Manager at Kington Court, also praised Rhodora’s dedication and exemplary service:

Her passion for nursing and leadership and mentorship skills have profoundly impacted her colleagues and the residents she cares for. To mark her 20-year milestone, Rhodora was presented with a beautiful bouquet and celebrated with residents and colleagues, honouring her extraordinary contributions to Rotherwood Healthcare.
