FOUR BALLARDS TEAMS, ONE BEACON, AND MORE THAN £4,400 RAISED FOR DEMENTIA UK

Around 40 Worcestershire based Ballards colleagues have put their fitness, teamwork and determination to the test in a 25–30km charity challenge, raising more than £4,400 for Dementia UK in one big push.

The “Ballards Big Challenge: Race to the Beacon” saw four teams set off from Bevere, Castlemorton, Bromyard and Tewkesbury, all with one destination in sight, the Malvern Beacon.

Each team faced a demanding 25–30km route, with colleagues walking together and supporting each other through the miles, all in aid of Dementia UK.

And it was not just a charity challenge,  there was some healthy competition too, with the four teams racing to complete their respective routes first.

The winning team included Ballards CEO James Syree.

James said: “It was a brilliant challenge from start to finish. Walking such a long distance was certainly tough, but having a team around you makes a huge difference. There was plenty of determination,  and a fair bit of competitiveness along the way!

“Reaching the Beacon as the winning team was a fantastic feeling, but ultimately the biggest achievement was knowing that we were all doing it to raise money for such an important cause.”

Claire Korsakovs, Regional Fundraiser for Dementia UK said:

“We are extremely grateful to Ballards for supporting Dementia UK. We are absolutely thrilled with the overwhelming success of the Malvern Hills Trek and are so appreciative to everyone who took part.

“One in two of us will be affected by dementia in our lifetime – either by caring for someone with the condition, developing it ourselves, or both. Thanks to the hard work of our amazing regional supporters like Ballards, more families than ever will be able to access the life-changing support offered by our Admiral Nurses.”

Ballards would like to thank everyone who took part, donated, encouraged colleagues or supported the challenge. The money raised will support Dementia UK in providing specialist support to people living with dementia and their families.
