As the construction sector navigates the most significant regulatory change in a generation, Speller Metcalfe has moved early to ensure its systems, governance and information management are built for what comes next.
The Building Safety Act has fundamentally changed what clients, residents and regulators expect from industry, and the principal contractor has responded by securing certification to both BS 99001 and ISO 27001, becoming one of an early cohort of contractors to achieve BS 99001.
Adrian Speller, joint managing director, said: “By investing in the systems, governance and information management needed to meet an increasingly fast-past landscape of changing demands, we’re demonstrating that our systems, processes and culture meet the highest standards across both quality management and information security.”
BS 99001 builds on ISO 9001 with requirements specifically designed for construction, introducing greater emphasis on leadership, competence, risk management and traceability. Certification confirms that Speller Metcalfe’s systems are structured to reflect the complexity of modern project delivery and maintain a clear and auditable golden thread of information throughout the project lifecycle – a direct response to the accountability demands emerging from post-Grenfell regulatory reform.
Alongside this, ISO 27001 certification confirms that robust, independently audited controls are in place to protect sensitive project information, client data and commercially confidential documentation.
Together, the accreditations strengthen Speller Metcalfe’s ability to support clients in increasingly regulated environments and enhance its access to opportunities across a broader range of sectors and frameworks.
Adrian continues: “The regulatory direction of travel in construction is clear, and the expectations around quality, accountability and information management are only going to intensify. We’ve invested deliberately to ensure our systems are ahead of those demands, not catching up with them.
“Achieving BS 99001 and ISO 27001 provides independent verification that the way we manage quality, building safety and information throughout the project lifecycle is robust, consistent and fully accountable. For our clients, that’s tangible assurance – and for the business, it strengthens our platform for the opportunities ahead.”
