Dave James, a trailblazing speaker coach from Bromsgrove, has earned a coveted spot as a shortlistee for the TEDx of the Year category at the Speaker Awards 2026.
Professional speakers play an essential role in shaping ideas, shifting perspectives, and driving meaningful change. The Speaker Awards, now in its fifth year, shines a spotlight on the most inspiring and innovative voices across the industry. The shortlist was unveiled on Friday 22nd May 2026, with entries rigorously evaluated by a panel of judges including prominent bookers, bureaus, strategists, and coaches. With hundreds of entries submitted this year, judges noted that in several categories only single-digit points separated shortlisted candidates, reflecting the exceptional depth of talent on show.
A first-time entrant, Dave felt compelled to enter after his TEDx talk was selected as an Editor’s Pick by the TED organisation. With experience as both a speaker and event host across a wide range of stages, on topics ranging from men’s mental health and happiness to the power of speaking and communication, Dave is already recognised as an expert in his field.
“Being shortlisted for TEDx of the Year is something I genuinely didn’t see coming. The speakers in this category are incredible, and I’m really happy to be among them.”
“The quality of applications this year was staggering and demonstrates the powerful impact of professional speakers. The judging process was tough, so we’d like to congratulate Dave for achieving this impressive milestone. We invite everyone to join us in London at The Speaker Awards Ceremony on Friday 3rd July,” said Elliot Kay, CEO and co-founder of The Speaker Awards.
