Community Power and Lee’s Place were recently honoured to attend the Mayor Making Ceremony in Hereford for the installation of the 645th Mayor of Hereford, Councillor Cat Hornsey. The event was a celebration of community, partnership, and civic pride, bringing together organisations and leaders from across the city.
During the evening, Lee’s Place was announced as one of the Mayor’s chosen charities for the year, alongside Dirty Feet. The recognition marks an important opportunity to raise awareness of homelessness and community inequality across Herefordshire.
Lee’s Place, a Community Power project, provides a safe and welcoming environment for people experiencing homelessness in Hereford, offering evening meals, practical support, and pathways into housing, health, and recovery services. Community Power also works more broadly to strengthen communities and reduce inequalities across the county.
Being selected as one of the Mayor’s charities reflects the growing importance of collaborative, community-led support services and highlights the value of partnership working between the voluntary sector, local organisations, and businesses.
Community Power and Lee’s Place look forward to working alongside Mayor Cat Hornsey throughout her year in office and collaborating with Dirty Feet to make a positive and lasting impact across Hereford.
