Date & Time: Wednesday 13 May, 10am to 1:00pm
Venue: Worcestershire County Cricket Club, Graham Hick Pavillion, New Road, Worcester, Worcestershire , WR2 4QQ
Event Overview:
Work experience in Worcestershire is changing – and local businesses are now being called on to help shape a modern approach that better reflects the industries, careers and opportunities available to young people across the county.
The Governments vision for work experience is set to change as they will introduce the ambition to replace the traditional single one-week placement with the new ‘Modern Work Experience’, a series of shorter, more meaningful experiences spread across a student’s education. This approach reduces singular pressure on employers, increases flexibility, and creates more impactful encounters making participation accessible for organisations of any size or sector.
The shift represents a significant opportunity for Worcestershire businesses to play a leading role in developing future talent while helping students better understand the careers available on their doorstep.
The Worcestershire Growth Hub is working with the Careers Worcestershire Early Careers Hub, and The Careers & Enterprise Company, to ready the system and prepare for the introduction of the new ‘Modern Work Experience’ system.
To support employers and fully outline the changes coming with Modern Work Experience, the teams will be holding an event on Wednesday 13 May. The event will introduce employers to the evolving model of work experience and provide an opportunity for organisations to help lead the way and shape how work experience is delivered across the county.
