Over the last year, SME Solicitors has been upskilling team members through apprenticeship and skills bootcamp courses. Jack Stirzaker, who is undertaking a Level 6 Degree Apprenticeship in Digital Marketing with The Development Manager, discusses his experience.
I started my current role at the beginning of 2024 with limited marketing experience, so I embarked on a Skills Bootcamp with The Development Manager in March–May 2024, followed by my Degree Apprenticeship in June. The knowledge I’ve gained has transformed how I approach projects, campaigns and challenges at work.
Before starting the course, I didn’t appreciate how significant strategy and analytics are in marketing. I now apply marketing theories and frameworks to day-to-day scenarios. One of the most valuable aspects is consulting with specialist coaches and peers in similar situations. The collaborative live sessions facilitate constructive discussions, which I reflect on and bring back to the business.
As a result of my apprenticeship, I feel confident speaking in marketing meetings, providing strategic insights and helping the firm make data-driven decisions. While I have more progress to make over the next few years, I feel we will achieve our marketing goals, with my apprenticeship providing the structure and knowledge needed to help the firm succeed.
