SME Solicitors supports Workplace Wellbeing with new Mental Health First Aider

In September, Jessica Aldersey, SME Solicitors’ Office Manager, dedicated two working days to completing a Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) course with Garrett Learning. This comprehensive training has equipped Jess with valuable skills that will benefit both herself and the SME Solicitors team.

The MHFA course provided Jess with practical strategies to address mental health challenges in the workplace. She gained insights into recognising early warning signs of mental health issues and learned appropriate interventions that can be implemented before professional help is sought. Accommodations like these are crucial in busy workplaces, where stress and pressure can significantly impact wellbeing.

By taking the course, Jess has developed techniques to tackle sensitive conversations with colleagues who may be struggling. The course emphasised the importance of active listening, non-judgmental communication and creating safe spaces for open dialogue about mental health concerns. These conversation skills are essential for breaking down stigma and ensuring that team members feel supported during difficult times.

By investing in mental health first aid training, SME Solicitors demonstrates its commitment to fostering a workplace culture that prioritises employee wellbeing. Jess joins Emma Colley and Samantha Lloyd as the firm’s Mental Health First Aiders, meaning that support and guidance is more accessible to those experiencing mental health challenges.
