Boost your career and make a difference as a Special Constable

Are you looking to develop your skills, meet new people, and give back to your community? Volunteering as a Special Constable with West Mercia Police could be the unique opportunity you’ve been searching for.

Special Constables are volunteer police officers who wear the same uniform, have the same powers, and face the same challenges as regular officers.

Becoming a Special Constable offers hands-on experience in leadership, communication, decision-making, and conflict resolution. Skills that will enhance your personal and professional life.

You’ll receive full training, ongoing support, and the chance to work alongside experienced police officers. The role is flexible, allowing you to contribute at least 16 hours a month around your existing work and family commitments.

More than just a line on your CV, volunteering as a Special Constable shows commitment, integrity, and a desire to make a real difference. You’ll be part of a team working to keep our communities safe, all while building lifelong skills and connections.

Employer Supported Policing (ESP) is a national scheme that enables individuals to take paid time off to carry out their volunteer police duties. Speak with your employer to find out if they’re already signed up. If not, they can join the scheme free of charge.
