Another great charity to benefit from the Pearl Lake Park Anniversary Fund at Shobdon in North Herefordshire.
‘Dogs for Good’ was August’s nomination, a national charity based in Oxfordshire that teaches dogs to help people living with a variety of disabilities have happier, healthier and more independent lives.
The charity was nominated by holiday home owners Gina and Jeremy Russ, who’ve been on park a few years now and whose parents had a home at Pearl Lake Country Park over 25 years ago!
“We are passionate about DFG” says Gina, “they’re based in our home county and do some pretty impressive work making life possible for so many people with a wide range of disabilities including being best friends to children. We regularly participate in fundraising activities for this amazing charity and are thrilled you’ve chosen it to mark Pearl Lake’s Silver Anniversary pledge.”
Joining Gina and Jeremy on park to receive the cheque was Desna McAll, the local DFG Ambassador from Leominster together with retired assistance dog Finley.
Discover Parks owner Glenn Jones presented the cheque for £1,000, the 8th charity to benefit so far this year and said it was great to have another amazing cause to support. “ We continue to be inspired by incredible stories, this time how dogs can be trained to do some vital things helping people whose lives would be unliveable without them. It was lovely to meet Desna and Finley and hear all about their work. They’re definitely ‘Dogs for Good.”
The final word comes from the Chief Executive, Ed Bracher. “All of us at Dogs for Good are enormously grateful for the generosity shown to us by Discover Parks. Thousands of people ask us for support every year and donations like this one mean we can reach more of them through our carefully matched partnerships, family workshops and community initiatives.” www.dogsforgood.org
