Kidderminster College’s T-Level learner, William Harding-Taylor, organised and ran a BBQ and Bake Sale at Kori’s Construction site on Norton Road, Stourbridge, raising £645 with donations still coming in.
William is a first-year student on the Electrotechnical Engineering T-Level at Kidderminster College. Although not a required part of his course, William’s passion for giving back to the community shone through as he helped to organise a CPR training session, inviting in many local stakeholders, contractors and the workers on site to take part.
Danny Pardoe, Employer Engagement Manager at Kidderminster College, adds: “Developing partnerships like this between Kori Construction, Kidderminster College and British Heart Foundation certainly go to the show the importance of collaboration on a local level. These collaborations benefit not only the learner by developing their communication, teamwork and problem-solving skills but also make an impact on the local communities we serve.”
Ryan Finch, Construction Manager on-site at the Norton Road project in Stourbridge, explained the growth that Will has shown in his role: “He’s been great from the first day when started as a shy, new, green Kidderminster College student to what he is now, being part of a team, helping and getting involved more as a team player”.
Reflecting on the experience of working at Kori, helping the local community and organising the fundraising event Will notes, “It’s an experience you would never get in a classroom. I never would have got this experience if I didn’t have the supportive workforce here and it’s good to raise money for a good cause.”
