This is a practical follow-up to the basic Import documentation & procedures course aimed at those already experienced in import procedures. This interactive course covers all aspects of import procedures is a must. You will look at import supply chain issues as well as focusing on key areas such as tariff classification, duty reliefs and origin and preference courses. The aim is to increase your understanding of customs rules and provide clear guidance on the information and documents required in the international supply chain. This course contains exercises on customs procedures, transforms theory into practice and adds value and impact to this in-depth workshop. Previous importing experience or prior attendance at the basics of import documentation & procedures course is recommended. Programme of Topics: 1. INTRODUCTION: Rules and regulations 2. IMPORT CONTROLS: Know the law: prohibitions & restrictions, licensing, tariff quotas, ceilings etc. 3. THE IMPORT CHAIN OF EVENTS 4. CONTROLLING THE IMPORT: Documentation, customs procedures, types of clearance procedures and routes including a review of Customs Freight Simplified Procedure (CFSP) and new UCC measures 5. VALUATION ISSUES: Are you paying the correct amount of duty/VAT? Is it a compliance issue or an over payment? Putting the WTO Valuation Rules to practical use, understanding the valuation issues and costs that must be included UCC Changes. 6. SPECIAL REGIMES: A brief guide to the Inward and Outward Processing Relief (IP/OP) and other similar authorisations and procedures and how they will be affected by the Union Customs Code (UCC) 7. TARIFF CLASSIFICATION: Tips on classification and using the General Interpretative Rules (GIRs) 8. INCOTERMS: Controlling the movement of goods, reducing risk and understanding the cost elements of shipping terms 9. RULES OF ORIGIN AND PREFERENCE: Keeping up-to-date with the origin rules and using them to your advantage.
