Tackling loneliness has always been a priority in Worcestershire but now more than ever.
We recognise that there are people of all ages who are feeling lonely and want to encourage everyone to take simple steps to help them feel more connected, which we can all do, even at a distance. To achieve this there is a Tackling Loneliness in Worcestershire Steering Group that is made up of key partners that provide services to support people to feel less lonely and more positive. The group is currently pulling together some key loneliness messages and signposting information that can be shared with businesses to raise awareness of loneliness and reduce stigma. The group is also developing a ‘Stay Connected’ pledge that all organisations can sign up to showing that the activities they provide are inclusive, welcoming and support people to stay connected. For more information on these initiatives and how to get involved please contact Melanie Whistance (Worcestershire County Council) MWhistance@worcestershire.gov.uk
Malvern Hills Council, who are running the loneliness project, work closely with People Like Us (PLUS), a service that works across Worcestershire to support adults of all ages who are experiencing loneliness or isolation. PLUS enables individuals to connect with others and supports them to become more active and engaged in their communities.
