Description

Event description: The Food and Drink Forum in association with mfg Solicitors is a strategic group to promote the interests of food and drink producers from within our two counties. It champions and lobbies for specific strategies and policies that benefit the members – from incubation to maturity, with a specific focus on skills, innovation and growth.

The Food and Drink Forum has four main aims:

  • Promoting the region’s food and drink produce
  • Championing and lobbying for policies that benefit food and drink producers
  • Capitalising on business opportunities
  • Optimising funding, innovation and knowledge transfer

We are delighted to announce our guest speakers…

Anthony Snell, Business partner, Farmer & Grower at A.J & C.I Snell, one of the UK’s leading fresh and frozen fruit growers, with a state of the art 2000-tonne capacity Packhouse situated at Windmill Hill, Herefordshire.

Anthony will give an update on the Business and will discuss the British Soft fruit Fresh and Frozen sector and the challenges and rewards they have experienced in 2020.

Gary Baylis, Managing Director at Export Access.

Gary will discuss the regulatory barriers that exporters face when they enter overseas markets. These technical barriers to trade are increasingly coming into effect, due mainly to rising concerns about health, nutrition, environmental and even cultural issues. Exporters are always encouraged to undertake adequate market research, but few, if any, undertake due diligence – i.e. looking at the challenges / obstacles / risks of dealing with a particular market.

All businesses, exporters and those new to export must aware of these issues but, at the same time, understand the solutions.

We also look forward to hearing an update from Helen Bowden from the Herefordshire Business Board on the Visit Herefordshire campaigns regarding local food & drink and also a sector legislation update from our Sponsors MFG Solicitors.
