The Herefordshire & Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce have partnered with mfg Solicitors to deliver its fifth annual Food and Drink Conference. The conference will provide thought-provoking speakers from leading industry experts and include plenty of networking opportunities to ensure attendees build relationships and make new connections.

Ali works with her husband Richard and his father Mark, the Cappers specialise in growing hops and apples. Ali’s former career was in Advertising & Marketing. Today, in addition to numerous roles at the farm, her work includes membership of the Boards of the Oxford Farming Conference, the British Hop Association, the NFU’s National Horticulture & Potatoes Board and Wye Hops Ltd. Ali is Executive Chair of British Apples & Pears Ltd, a Nuffield Scholar and a non-executive Director of NFU Mutual. Ali will be talking about the power of food and drink diversity in Herefordshire and Worcestershire.

The Beefy Boys have successful burger restaurants in Hereford, Shrewsbury, and Cheltenham as well as an American food truck that they take across the UK. A regular guest on BBC’s Saturday Kitchen, Murf and The Beefy Boys will release their first cookbook in August. They have competed in BBQ & Burger competitions in the UK & US including coming 2nd in the Worlds Best Burger competition in Las Vegas in 2014 and are current holders of Burger Chef of the Year and Signature Burger of the Year at The National Burger awards 2023. Murf will be talking about the origins of the Beefy Boys and how to turn business challenges into opportunities for growth and success.

The inspiration behind the brand was a childhood spent roaming the Herefordshire hills, woods and farmland at the family estate of Gattertop. Gemma experimented with the rich bounty of produce in the organic orchards to create a collection of International award-winning spirits including Botanic No 7, top scoring vodka in the UK in 2021. The home of Gattertop Drinks is a historic farm in Herefordshire, which dates back to 1086 and is referred to in the doomsday book as Gadredehope, its mission is to conserve and protect British orchards by celebrating the natural ingredients found on them throughout the seasons in our delicious drinks. Gemma will be speaking about how she built the brand and why flavour, provenance and sustainability are intrinsic to its success.
