LOCAL ORGANISATIONS STICKING THEIR NECKS OUT FOR HOSPICE THIS SUMMER

Fortis Living, The Hopmarket Charity and Fisher German are sponsoring ‘An Outstanding Source’ located at Bromwich Parade, Diglis Bridge.

A trio of Worcester organisations have joined forces to sponsor a very special sculpture.

Fortis Living, The Hopmarket Charity and Fisher German have come together in support of the city’s Worcester Stands Tall initiative.

The group is funding an 8ft tall giraffe sculpture as part of the St Richard’s Hospice project, which was unveiled – alongside 29 others – at the start of the 10 week public art trail, which was launched on Monday 9 July.

The sculptures – of which there are 30 large ones and 23 giraffe calves – will stand tall through the city’s streets and open spaces until Sunday 16 September.  They will then be auctioned to raise money for the hospice’s Build 2020 Appeal; this appeal aims to raise the final £1.4m needed to build a bigger hospice, enabling more families and patients to be cared for in Worcestershire.

During the campaign, both Fortis Living and The Hopmarket are organising a series of giraffe related events which will be unveiled over the coming weeks. These will include giraffe related activities in The Hopmarket, delivered by Worcester-based Spare Room Arts as well as competitions, a social media campaign and mini-giraffe occasions at Fortis Living’s established summer events.

Clare Jackson, Executive Director, Housing, Care and Communities said : “This is such an exciting project to be involved with.  Its message is at the heart of what we do which is, in essence, all about community.  We look forward to a summer full of giraffe related fun!”

Bill Simpson, Trustee at The Hopmarket Charity said : “Supporting such a fabulous initiative is a real honour for us.  It will also allow us to maximise the summer months and to really showcase The Hopmarket and what it has to offer both residents and visitors.  We will be running lots of family friendly and of course giraffe related events throughout.”

Jason Clines, Partner at Fisher German and Managing Agent of The Hopmarket said : “We have an established presence in Worcester so making sure that we are involved with local community initiatives is a must for us.  The giraffe trail is not only unique but it will raise money for a wonderful cause.”

Sara Matthews, Project Manager for Worcester Stands Tall said : “We’re absolutely delighted to have Fortis Living, The Hopmarket and Fisher German on board and sponsoring a giraffe sculpture.

“There is such a diversity of organisations involved with our project which is great as it reflects the ethos behind the trail – standing tall together for Worcester.”

Regular updates will be posted on the partners’ Facebook and Twitter pages throughout the campaign.
