A plan to raise thousands for a Worcestershire hospice has been boosted thanks to a charity golf day hosted by a local recruitment firm.

County jobs specialist Workforce Staffing brought 18 teams together from across the region who raised £2,380 to support the work of Primrose Hospice which is based in Redditch and Bromsgrove.
The company’s annual golf competition, held at Blackwell Golf Club, was won by Studley-based Dash Motor Services who took the trophy home for the second time in three years.
To help raise funds, the day also included prizes for the longest drive, a nearest the pin contest, and a competition with a professional trick-shot specialist.
Primrose Hospice relies heavily on voluntary donations and needs almost £2m every year to operate. It offers support to patients who have been diagnosed with a life limited illness and their family, including children through their Day Hospice and Family Support services.
Workforce Staffing’s managing director Joe Alekna said: “We had a great day at Blackwell Golf Club, with brilliant prizes and support from local businesses for an exceptionally worthy cause.
“Primrose Hospice does so much for so many people and families around north Worcestershire. As our chosen charity for this year, we are doing all we can to support their amazing work.
“We’ve now raised almost £15,000 this year and aim to keep going with other events planned.”
Workforce Staffing employs over 100 people between its branches in Birmingham, Solihull, Redditch, Worcester, Kidderminster, Dudley, Coventry and Rugby.
The business was launched in 2003 by Mr Alekna and his brother Paul, who is now the group’s CEO. They specialise in supplying staff for sectors including logistics, transport, professional services, office, food manufacturing and other manufacturing.
