KANES FOODS DONATES FOOD TO HOMELESS CHARITY

Date: 22/12/2017

Evesham-based fresh produce supplier Kanes Foods is donating £5,000 of fresh food to national homeless charity, Crisis, to help vulnerable people this Christmas.

Kanes Foods is supporting the charity’s Crisis at Christmas campaign, which aims to provide 38,000 meals for homeless people during this critical time of year. The local company is donating four tonnes of fresh produce to the charity’s depot in Southwark, London on Thursday, December 21, which Crisis will distribute throughout the country.

Crisis, which is celebrating 50 years of service, provides food, warmth and support to thousands of homeless people across Britain. Each Christmas, the charity works tirelessly and calls out for more than 11,000 volunteers to help support the initiative.

Stacey Dean, NPD Manager at Kanes Foods, has been liaising with the charity to organise the donation and help make a difference to those in need this Christmas.

Stacey said: “It’s a devastating fact that one in four homeless people will face spending Christmas alone this year. Food is central to everything we do at Kanes and we saw the Crisis at Christmas campaign as the perfect opportunity for us to lend our support to a fantastic cause.  We’d like to thank local companies Ferryfast and AIM Logistics who’ve helped us with the practical side of sourcing and delivering our donation to Crisis at Christmas.”

Crisis at Christmas will be hosting its events from 22nd – 29th December, run by volunteers from all walks of life across 13 centres across Britain, including Birmingham and Coventry.

Ian Richards, Head of Crisis, said: “With the homelessness crisis worsening, the centres are needed now more than ever and Crisis at Christmas simply would not be possible without the generosity of our supporters – our devoted fundraisers, donors, volunteers, campaigners and partners.

“We would like to thank Kanes Foods for its generous donation of fresh produce, which will help us provide a lifeline for homeless people this Christmas.”

Kanes Foods, located in Middle Littleton, has been a leading supplier of prepared fresh produce including salads, vegetables and stir-fries in the UK for almost 30 years.
