Hereford Racecourse will welcome charity fundraiser Richard Farquhar on Monday 8 January, following his epic 3,000 mile ‘Walking the Courses’ trek around all sixty of Britain’s racecourses.

Richard, raised nearly £500,000 over the course of thirteen months, walking between every British racecourse, along with a lap of the track, often accompanied by racegoers, Owners, Trainers and Jockeys.  His fundraising efforts were split evenly between Pancreatic Cancer UK and Racing Welfare, the latter of which Richard is now a trustee.
Completing his walk in 2016, Hereford Racecourse had not yet reopened, so was not included in Richard’s original itinerary, but he is looking forward to ticking off racecourse number 61 on Monday.
Richard will walk a lap of the course on Monday at 12:30, along with Executive Director Rebecca Davies and Dean Goddard of raceday sponsor
Rebecca Davies commented, “Richard’s achievements with Walking the Courses were absolutely amazing, he made a huge impact across the racing industry through his tireless fundraising for Racing Welfare and Pancreatic Cancer UK.
“We’ve been looking forward to him coming to finally tick us off his list since we reopened in October 2016, and I’m sure he’ll have plenty of support from jockeys and trainers for when he gets his boots back on before racing.  Although I might be biased, I think he’s saved the best until last!’
