Date: 16/01/2018

The first of a series of BREXIT seminars focusing on food.

Offering practical advice and guidance from industry experts will be held at the Crowne Plaza, NEC, Birmingham on Wednesday 28th February 2018.

Speakers confirmed are Liam Gilbert, IGD’s ‎Head of Global Customer Development, Chris Sturman CEO of the Food Storage & Distribution Federation (FSDF), John Keefe Director of Public Affairs for Getlink, formerly Eurotunnel, and Robert Hardy, Brexit advisor to the Institute for Government, InterTradeIreland, InvestNI and a Director of Oakland Invicta and Oakland International.

Each seminar will focus on a key theme such as tariff and WTO trade, EU and non EU exports, customs implications and cross border transit arrangements. The first of the series will look at the impact on imports, an area which the UK can unilaterally decide its fate without excessive influence from the EU.

Hosted by distribution and logistics experts Oakland International who work closely with major food brands and retailers across Europe, topics covered across the Brexit Seminar series include:

Food Safety, Port Health, Customs and Brexit, AEO Trusted Trader Status, WTO and Tariff Classification, Clandestine Activity, Simplifications, Threats, Rules of Origin and post Brexit Business Opportunities.

Seminar Dates:
28th February 2018 – Crowne Plaza, NEC, Birmingham
27th June 2018 – Birmingham
17th October 2018 – Birmingham

Robert Hardy commented: “The end of our membership of the EU is fast approaching and it will be a reality in a little over a year’s time. We all need to take stock and prepare to ensure we seize every opportunity Brexit presents, viewing Brexit not as a threat but as a chance to excel.”
