EXPANDED SCHEME EXTENDS OFFER OF FREE CYCLE PARKING TO HEREFORD BUSINESSES & COMMUNITY GROUPS

Home / News & Opportunities / Member News

Date: 16/10/2017

Cycling charity Life Cycle UK is delighted to announce that, following on from a successful pilot over winter 2016/17, they have been awarded a new contract to expand the Take a Stand® scheme in across Herefordshire until 2019.

Life Cycle UK’s ‘Take A Stand®’ scheme helps smaller organisations with limited resources to install secure cycle parking on their premises.

Small businesses, shops and community groups in Hereford are all eligible for up to 4 FREE steel cycle parking stands - enough to provide secure parking for 8 bikes. Stands are provided, delivered and installed completely FREE of charge.

Having a safe place for customers and staff to park their bikes, not only encourages the use of bicycles in local areas, but allows businesses and organisations to promote their green credentials and reduce cycle theft.

Tina Kilner, of Herefordshire Council, says:

"We have been delighted with the success of the Take a Stand® scheme so far and this new contract shows the council's commitment to sustainable travel across the county."

Frances McMillan of Life Cycle UK says,

"Our scheme offers an effective and hassle free way for local businesses to encourage cycling – and best of all it’s free! There are a limited number of stands available to businesses so please get in touch to reserve your stands."
