CLOVER HR OPENS BIRMINGHAM AND WORCESTER OFFICES JUST 12 MONTHS INTO BUSINESS

Date: 17/05/2018

A local human resources consultancy, formed just one year ago, has expanded by opening new offices in Birmingham and Worcester after achieving an annual turnover of £100,000 and winning international business in its first year of operations.

Clover HR, which was launched last year by Worcester-based HR expert Michael Doolin has expanded its team by taking on two new staff in its bid to grow its portfolio of business of providing fully outsourced HR support services and business change coaching.

“Clover HR originally focused on being the ‘right hand support’ for SMEs based in Worcestershire, Herefordshire and the West Midlands,” says Doolin. “Many of the SMEs that we have met have recognised a lack of understanding in employment law and dealing and communicating effectively with staff. This is where we have initially been able to support.

“Early clients have ranged from candlemakers in Herefordshire to shed builders in Worcester, but the business is growing at a rate that we would never have predicted in this first 12 months.

“Just last week we delivered a programme of bespoke coaching to an international law firm in Amsterdam and provided a start-up HR function for a Dutch international manufacturing firm and led the recruitment process for a HR director at a US-based chemicals business.

“We have 10 registered clients where we deliver an external HR service, on fixed retainers, and have ambitions to double this over the next 12 months.”

Doolin boasts more than 30 years of experience in HR, having worked in senior roles for a variety of blue chip firms, including British Airways, PWC, DHL, DPD and Ford Motor Company.

His next ambition is for Clover HR to turnover more than £150,000 in the next financial year, and it has recruited experienced HR professionals Jenny Riley and Jane Tricketts as Service Delivery Consultants to support this next phase of development. The business is also now operating from offices at the Assay Studios on Newhall Street in Birmingham and on Friar Street in Worcester.

“We’re providing a unique service and have made excellent progress in this first year of operations,” adds Doolin. “We will continue investing in the business over the next 12 months to help realise these objectives, with a view to further expansion of the Clover HR team.

“However, it’s not just about the business investment. We’re committed to supporting our local community by investing in sporting and arts projects, particularly those that benefit young people.”

To date Clover HR has become a major sponsor to Worcester Lollipop Youth Theatre Group and xxx junior football team. The firm has also linked up as a sponsor of Kidderminster Harriers FC, the Testimonial of Worcester Warriors rugby player Jonny Arr, and is a supporter of the Midlands Air Ambulance, the MS Society and Help Harry Help Others.
