The judging for the Tourism Awards for Excellence 2017, as organised by Visit Herefordshire and Visit Worcestershire, is now underway.

The addition of Best Drinks Producer category for 2017 allowed local tourism businesses the opportunity to apply for 11 categories, including: Best Hotel, Best Guest Accommodation, Best Self Catering, Best Conference Venue, Best Eating Out, Best Food Producer, Best Drinks Producer, Best Visitor Attraction, Best Touring, Camping and Holiday Park, Best Festival and Events (Community) and Best Festival and Events (Commercial).

Following a deliberating process of short-listing the 102 applications from across the two counties, judging is now underway for the 62 finalists.
The Tourism Awards for Excellence are aligned with the national VisitEngland Awards. The winners of a related category have the opportunity to be put forward on a national level to represent their county. The VisitEngland Awards are closed to local businesses unless they are winners at a local level. Previous winners have included Stanbrook Abbey, Clive’s Fruit Farm, Monnington House and Green Cow Kitchens.

Speaking at the awards last year, Michael Horton, Owner of the Broadway Hotel, said: “I’m thrilled for Richard and the entire team at The Broadway Hotel who have worked extremely hard over the last few years to make the hotel what it is today; it is thanks to their commitment and high service standards that The Broadway has achieved this well-deserved recognition.”

Finalists are invited to an exclusive ceremony held at Malvern Theatres on Tuesday 19 September where the Winners, Highly Commended and Commended from each county will be announced.
