International visitors have likely heard of William Shakespeare’s birthplace, Stratford-upon-Avon, or revelled in the idyllic views of the Cotswolds, but are all too unfamiliar with the whereabouts of Worcestershire. The location of our beautiful county often leads to the question: “It’s where the sauce comes from, right?”

Following the celebration of Edward Winslow’s birthday in October, Visit Worcestershire has been busy promoting our Mayflower connections. Worcestershire was thrilled to go to the World Travel Market for the first time since 2004, through the work with Mayflower 400 and Inbound UK. Visit Worcestershire is now raising the profile of the county with over 100 International Travel buyers, with stays in Worcestershire currently on sale to visitors from the United States to commemorate 400 years since the Mayflower voyage.

Visit Worcestershire is now working with other destinations as part of a £700k VisitEngland project to create multiple itineraries which have American connections, in addition to the Mayflower 400. More information on the US visitor market will be available at the Visit Worcestershire Tourism Forum on Tuesday 30 January at Wood Norton Hall. The price of attendance is £15+VAT and includes a delicious lunch, to book your place please contact

Visit Worcestershire is delighted to invite local businesses to get involved in a fantastic opportunity to celebrate American connections to the county. Businesses from across the Accommodation, Events and Attractions industries are being encouraged to open their doors to the US visitor market when the Mayflower Vacation Packages begin in 2019.

Visit Worcestershire needs to compare travel trade content for all American connections, in addition to the Mayflower urgently by Friday 12 January 2018. If you are a business with any American connection, please complete the relevant travel trade forms as listed below, to be assessed as part of new national trails being created:

The call to action is to ensure that Worcestershire’s profile continues to grow on an international scale, after the wonderful work Visit Worcestershire has done in co-operation with Mayflower 400.
