Three firms from Worcestershire have been recognised with the prestigious Queen’s Awards for Enterprise 2018, one of the highest accolades for British businesses.

The winners of the Queen’s Awards were announced on Saturday 21 April, to celebrate Her Royal Majesty’s 92nd birthday.
Herefordshire & Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce is delighted to reveal that two Chamber Members were recognised in the awards. Both The First Class Pet Company and Metrasens Ltd were honoured as winners, being commended for their pioneering work in their respective categories.
Bromsgroved-based The First Class Pet Company, the team behind the brand Little BigPaw, were presented with the Queen’s Award for International Trade, in recognition of its outstanding growth in overseas sales.
Speaking of the accolade, Co-Founder and Director Jim Weston said:
“We are absolutely thrilled to receive the award. It is a huge honour and an outstanding reward for all the hard work put in by our staff and dedicated distributors. We have a tremendous team who passionately aim to deliver the very highest standards and to grow Little BigPaw into the leading British-made pet food brand.”
Metrasens, in Malvern, were selected as winners of the Queen’s Award for Innovation, the second consecutive year that the firm have been recognised. The company received the accolade for its ground-breaking work in advanced screening capabilities designed to enhance safety and security around the world.
Dr. Simon Goodyear, CEO at Metrasens, said:
“We are constantly looking at new and innovative ways to deploy our core technology, with an intrinsic focus on making people safer through cutting-edge screening methods. To be recognised with the Queen’s Award in the category of Innovation is a testament to the unprecedented advancements achieved by our team of physicists and engineers. It is also a perfect complement to the recognition we received from the Queen’s Awards last year in the International Trade category for our successful business growth.”
The good news continued with Redditch-based TP3 Global also being  awarded the Queen’s Awards for International Trade for SilverskinTM– a leading market brand with a strong worldwide client base.
The Queen’s Awards for Enterprise are one of the highest accolades for businesses, and it is great to see Chamber Members in Worcestershire recognised within these.
The local Department for International Trade, based within the Chamber of Commerce, regularly engages with businesses of all sizes and sectors, and it is fantastic to see local exporters recognised in the awards. Both Innovation and International Trade allow firms to grow, and these successes show local businesses’ resilience and competitiveness despite a period of uncertainty in the countdown to the UK’s formal exit from the EU.
Sharon Smith, Chief Executive of Herefordshire & Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce, said:
“It is brilliant news that two of our Members have been recognised in the Queen’s Awards for Enterprise this year, and I’d like to extend my congratulations to TP3 Global in Redditch for their success also.
“The awards put a spotlight on the innovation that we have within the two counties, and continue to show the strength of our local exporters. The International Trade team here at the Chamber will continue to support businesses in taking the first steps towards exporting and help to develop their international strategy.
“Well done to all three firms on their recent awards and I look forward to seeing how these will impact your businesses in the coming months.”
