COUNTDOWN IS ON FOR WONDERFUL WORCESTERSHIRE AWARDS

Home / News & Opportunities / Chamber News

Date: 27/04/2018

Earlier this year, Herefordshire & Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce revealed that Dawn Hardman, Director of HR, and Andrea Borwell-Fox, President of the Chamber, were nominated in this year’s Wonderful Worcestershire Awards.

The awards aim to recognise those in business who are going the extra mile to support firms and the community in the county. When applications opened in October 2017, the public were encouraged to nominate an inspirational person who makes a significant contribution to the community, and after a period of judging the successful nominees were announced at the start of the year.

After being nominated for a total of four categories between them, the Chamber is delighted to reveal that Dawn is a finalist in the Volunteer of the Year Award, and Andrea is a finalist in the Significant Achievement of the Year category.

Dawn has been commended for her work supporting a variety of events in the county, including; Worcester Live, Worcester Music Festival and Severn Sounds. Dawn is also part of the steering group for Worcestershire Works Well, a health and wellbeing accreditation scheme that received worldwide recognition at the World Chambers Competition in Sydney last year.

The Chamber has been working closely with Andrea to develop regular events, like the Women’s Business Forum and most recently by launching the second President Lecture Series – a three part course series that provides attendees with the opportunity to learn from the extensive knowledge of high level speakers.

Andrea said winning an award would provide her with the opportunity to further promote Worcestershire, its business community and in particular, its women entrepreneurs and women in the STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) sectors.

The awards will take place today, Friday 27 April, from 12.00pm at Worcester County Cricket Club. Guests will be able to enjoy canapés and fizz before indulging in a two-course lunch, and hearing the winners be announced.
