CHAMBER PRESENTS AWARD TO PATRON

Home / News & Opportunities / Chamber News

Date: 31/10/2017

Last week (Tuesday 24 October), Sharon Smith, Chief Executive at Herefordshire & Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce, Cassie Bray, Director of Business Engagement and Olivia Williams, Events & Training Manager at the Chamber, presented Malvern Instruments Ltd with its Chamber Business Award 2017.

The Commitment to People Development Award winner, Malvern Instruments will now go forward to represent the West Midlands in the national finals, taking place in London in November. Now in its 14th year, the Chamber Business Awards are a highlight of the business calendar, recognising the key role that local firms play in driving the UK economy.

Sharon Smith, Cassie Bray and Olivia Williams were invited to present the award at an informal ceremony, based at Malvern Instruments premises on Tuesday. After congratulating the Patron Member, Sharon, Cassie and Olivia had the opportunity to network with employees at Malvern Instruments and personally applaud the team for their hard-work.

Speaking of the award, Wendy Milne-Bennett, Director of Learning and Development at Malvern Instrument Ltd, said: “It felt great to receive recognition for all the hard-work we have put into the development of our employees. We constantly assess and monitor how our employees grow and develop, as well as getting internal feedback; however, receiving external recognition assists with our benchmarking process, reassuring us that we are “on the right track”!”

Wendy continued: “Winning the National British Chambers of Commerce award would be a wonderful accolade, demonstrating that we are operating very much as a best practice business, and despite our size are able to compete for talent on an equal footing with much larger organisations.”

Sharon Smith commented: “I’d like to congratulate Malvern Instruments for its award, and wish it all the best in the national awards later this year. It’s fantastic to see a Patron Member from Herefordshire & Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce representing the West Midlands, giving us the perfect opportunity to celebrate the local business community in the two counties.”

The national winners will be announced at the Gala Awards Dinners on Thursday 30 November, held at the Brewery, London. Tickets are on sale for the event, to book your place please visit www.bit.ly/bccnationalawards
